Program Overview
Implemented in 2023, the Women in Creative Industries (CI) Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is a targeted capacity-building initiative designed to support refugee women working in handicrafts. The program was implemented by Gemini Africa in partnership with Care Egypt, with the aim of strengthening women’s economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and practical business skills. The bootcamp focused on equipping participants with the foundations of business and entrepreneurship, while reinforcing the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and applied learning. The program adopted a hands-on approach, enabling women to translate learning into action and build pathways toward sustainable livelihoods.
Program Focus & Activities
Participants engaged in an intensive bootcamp designed to introduce entrepreneurship fundamentals tailored to creative and handicraft-based businesses, along with essential business skills suited for small-scale and home-based ventures. The program emphasized teamwork and collaborative problem-solving, incorporating hands-on practical activities directly linked to participants’ crafts. Throughout the bootcamp, participants received individualized feedback and guidance to support their progress and refine their business ideas. The training methodology prioritized accessibility and practicality, ensuring that newly acquired knowledge could be easily applied to their own initiatives and income-generating activities.
Impact & Outcomes
Through the Women in CI Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, participants strengthened their understanding of how to transform handicrafts into viable and sustainable businesses, while gaining confidence in managing and growing small creative ventures. They developed stronger teamwork and collaboration skills and took concrete steps toward establishing income-generating initiatives.
