The Gemini Upper Egypt Accelerator supports social enterprises across Upper Egypt. Following a successful first cohort, round 2 is designed to help the next wave of startups overcome growth barriers and scale their impact.

Launched in 2023, the first cycle of the Upper Egypt Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator concluded in August 2024. The cohort operated across six governorates—Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan—and supported 14 social enterprises. Female participation reached 50%, reflecting the program’s strong commitment to inclusive and locally rooted entrepreneurship in Upper Egypt.

The Upper Egypt Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator is a high-impact growth program designed to support early-stage and post-incubation social enterprises in Upper Egypt through an intensive and structured acceleration journey. Implemented by Gemini Africa in partnership with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, the accelerator provides a follow-up growth pathway for startups and MSMEs graduating from previous incubation programs. The program supports enterprises in transitioning from early-stage readiness to scaling, market expansion, and long-term financial sustainability, with a strong focus on refining business models, validating market fit, and strengthening founders’ capacities in operations, fundraising, and growth strategy.
Who Should Apply
Social enterprises based in Upper Egypt specifically in Aswan, Qena, Luxor, Sohag, Assiut, and Minya that are looking to overcome financial, technical, or operational challenges and are ready to grow.
What You’ll Get
The program is tailored to each startup’s specific needs. Based on an individual needs assessment, every participant receives a customized growth roadmap and access to support across three areas: • Financial support: connections to investors and financial institutions • Technical assistance: business consulting, training, and operational support • Combined financial and technical: an integrated package for startups that need both You’ll also receive one-on-one mentorship with industry leaders, introductions to potential partners and customers, and pitch practice to prepare you for investor conversations.
Program Phases
1. Induction: Orientation session to align expectations and introduce the program methodology. 2. Needs Assessment: A social entrepreneurship consultant conducts a virtual assessment of your startup and produces a detailed report. 3. Road mapping: A tailored roadmap is built around your most pressing challenges. 4. Matchmaking: The team connects you with investors, consultants, factories, educational institutions, and training centers to execute your roadmap.
