Tanmia wa Tatweer Performing Arts Incubator
Launched in 2023, the Tanmia wa Tatweer Performing Arts Incubator provides intensive support to performing arts practitioners.

Program Overview
Launched in 2021, the Tanmia wa Tatweer Performing Arts Incubator is a national incubation program designed to support creative startups working in the performing arts sector across Egypt. The program ran from December 2021 through 2022 and was implemented in partnership with Tanmia wa Tatweer, African Development Bank, and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT). The incubator aimed to strengthen the sustainability and growth potential of performing arts startups through a structured journey combining pre-incubation and incubation. The program supported startups in transforming creative ideas into viable, market-ready ventures by enhancing both their artistic and entrepreneurial capacities.
Program Objectives
The program was designed to support 30 performing arts startups through a comprehensive and structured journey that combined capacity building and skills development with a dedicated pre-incubation phase focused on preparing participants for pitching. It provided well-defined incubation services tailored specifically to the needs of the performing arts sector, alongside networking and matchmaking opportunities to enhance market access. Participants were connected with specialists, consultants, and sector experts, and received mentorship and coaching in both business development and performing arts disciplines. Top-performing startups were further supported through competitive financial awards to accelerate their growth and sustainability.
Geographic Reach & Participation
The program was implemented across all governorates in Egypt, completing one full cohort and supporting a total of 60 beneficiaries. Participation reflected strong inclusivity, with 50% female and 50% youth representation.
Program Activities & Outputs
Through the incubation process, participating startups optimized their workflows from creative conception to execution, enhancing efficiency and operational clarity. They strengthened their technical and artistic skills to deliver higher-quality performances, products, and services, while deepening their understanding of audience segmentation and customer targeting. The program also enabled them to develop stronger financial planning and tracking capabilities and to build validated business models with clear value propositions and sustainable revenue streams. In addition, startups accessed valuable networking opportunities with peers, donors, and investors, and prepared investor-ready pitch decks and comprehensive business plans to support growth and funding opportunities.
Impact & Outcomes
The program contributed to providing financial support and creating new opportunities for early-stage performing arts startups, while strengthening entrepreneurial and business skills within the creative sector. It promoted inclusivity and social impact through arts-based enterprises and reinforced community building and professional networks across the performing arts ecosystem. Following the final competition, 15 startups were awarded cash prizes totaling approximately €2,550, helping to cover early development and operational costs and enabling participating ventures to move forward on a more sustainable growth path.
