Program Overview

Gemini Africa has partnered with UNESCO across a series of regional and international knowledge-sharing initiatives focused on digital inclusion, audiovisual heritage, and cultural preservation. Through this collaboration, Gemini Africa has contributed its expertise at the intersection of CinemaTech, youth engagement, and creative industries, supporting dialogue around the protection and promotion of cultural expressions in the Arab States and beyond.

Partnership Engagements & Key Contributions

Regional Digital Inclusion Week – Webinar (2021) As part of UNESCO’s Regional Digital Inclusion Week for the Arab States, Gemini Africa participated in a high-level webinar where the company’s CEO, alongside industry experts, presented insights from the UNESCO Report on the African Film Industry. The session highlighted key findings, challenges, and best practices related to digital inclusion, innovation, and the future of the film sector in Africa.

Audiovisual Heritage Webinar (2022) In 2022, Gemini Africa contributed to a UNESCO-hosted webinar emphasizing the importance of Egypt’s audiovisual heritage. The session showcased the achievements and experiences of the Egyptian Film Restoration Center, while also exploring the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in preserving cultural assets. During the discussion, Gemini Africa highlighted how youth engagement through CinemaTech can play a leading role in safeguarding the world’s audiovisual heritage.

International Museums Day – Cairo (2023) On International Museums Day 2023, Gemini Africa participated in an in-person event hosted in Cairo in the presence of the DRI OIC UNESCO Regional Office and prominent cultural stakeholders. The company’s CEO took part in a panel discussion addressing the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, contributing perspectives on creative industries, cultural sustainability, and innovation-driven preservation.
