A Day of Ideas, Impact, and Momentum: Inside the Gemini Upper Egypt Incubator – Round 3 Pitching Event

From the first pitch to the final conversation on the exhibition floor, the Gemini Upper Egypt Incubator – Round 3 Pitching Day was more than an event—it was a powerful reflection of a growing entrepreneurial movement across Upper Egypt. Bringing together founders, partners, and ecosystem leaders, the day captured the energy, ambition, and resilience of a new generation of entrepreneurs building solutions rooted in real community needs. At the heart of the event stood a distinguished judging panel, bringing together cross-sector expertise and deep industry insight. We were proud to host: Malak Wahba, Public & Government Affairs Advisor at ExxonMobil Egypt Mays Abou Hegab, Deputy Executive Director at Sawiris Foundation Adly Thoma, Chairman & CEO of Gemini Africa and Founder of CinemaTech Shams Eweis, Senior Corporate Affairs Manager, Egypt, North Africa & Levant at Mars. Through thoughtful questions, critical feedback, and real-world perspectives, the panel challenged founders to sharpen their thinking, strengthen their business models, and push their ideas further.

Where Ideas Are Tested

The pitching sessions were intense. Founders stepped onto the stage ready to defend their ideas, respond under pressure, and clearly articulate the value of what they are building. It was a space defined by clarity, conviction, and confidence—where strong ideas met rigorous scrutiny. Beyond the stage, the exhibition floor told another side of the story—alive with interaction, conversations, and opportunity. Startups showcased solutions that ranged from early innovations to market-ready ventures, each reflecting months of dedication and progress. A meaningful moment came through the words of Laila Hosny from the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, who reminded everyone of the purpose behind the program: supporting entrepreneurs, unlocking opportunities, and building stronger communities across Upper Egypt.

From Idea to Impact

Among the success stories showcased was Mohamed El Khouly, founder of ECOCARBON, producing charcoal for renewable energy and active carbon for manufacturing. His journey reflects the essence of the incubator—transforming ideas into viable, scalable solutions with real market value.

Celebrating the Winners

As the day concluded, three startups stood out for their innovation, clarity, and impact potential: 🥇 Insight Learn An inclusive education startup introducing a patented teaching method using 3D models to make learning more accessible—particularly for visually impaired children—while improving early education outcomes. 🥈 iBikia A tech-enabled recycling platform connecting households with waste collection services through a mobile app, making recycling simple, rewarding, and scalable across communities. 🥉 Pottery Hub A creative venture blending traditional pottery craftsmanship with AI-driven design tools, reviving heritage industries while creating jobs and new market opportunities for artisans. Each of these startups represents more than a successful pitch—they embody resilience, innovation, and a strong commitment to creating meaningful change.

What Comes Next

While these three ventures were recognized on stage, the journey continues for many more. 10 additional high-potential startups have been selected to move into the second acceleration phase, where they will receive deeper support, advanced mentorship, and access to new growth opportunities—marking the next step toward scaling their impact.

Beyond the Event

What unfolded during the Pitching Day was not just a competition—it was a glimpse into a growing ecosystem where entrepreneurship is becoming a powerful driver of inclusive development. The Gemini Upper Egypt Incubator continues to unlock talent, connect opportunities, and support ventures that are shaping the future of their communities. And as always, this is only the beginning.
